noemarchdance
In its inaugural year, noemarchdance presented several film and dance pieces in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Selected performances include the CT Meets NY Dance festival (2007), the Outlet Dance Project (NJ, 2007), Movement Research Series at Judson Church (NY, 2008), Monkeytown Performance Venue (NY, 2008), Mystic Seaport Annual noemarchdance Performance Event (CT, 2008), International Arts and Ideas Festival (CT, 2008), and the Built on Stilts Festival (MA, 2008).

OUR INTENTION
A group of like-minded artists, noemarchdance is a collaborative vehicle devoted to creating choreofilm projects. Though theatrical in nature, the ultimate goal of our work is to create an evocative atmosphere rather than a literal narrative. Our unique marriage of dance and film acts as a doorway inviting the audience to explore a new world, ultimately leading to an exploration of self. It is our deepest hope that through our work, collaborators and audience members alike experience an awakening of untapped emotions.

OUR PROCESS
Stemming from our close friendship, we have found that we are often drawn to similar inspiration. When beginning a project, we each explore the material through out own lens and medium. Our long distance relationship and creative exchange naturally creates a refinement of ideas with only the most interesting material ultimately being expressed. Once we lay this basic framework, we are often moved to invite other artists to interpret the work through their own lens and medium. Past collaborations have included original music composition, theatrical guest appearances and live music accompaniment.

Kate March—
Co-Founder, Choreographer
Kate March received her B.A. in Dance with Honors from Connecticut College in 2007. Immediately following graduation, she co-founded noemarchdance, a modern dance and film company devoted to creating multi-medium, collaborative dance projects. In addition to choreographing and creating filmwork for noemarch, Kate has served as a teaching artist for youth at Green Street Arts Center (Wesleyan University, 2008); as a guest artist at Central Connecticut State University (2007,2008), as a teaching artist at the Art League of New Britain as part of the “Be Creative” Program (2008); as a modern dance instructor at Jacob’s Pillow Community Jumpstart Summer Program (2008); and as a dance teacher for a local studio, Dance City and the Arts. In 2008, Kate was selected as 1 of 12 choreographers from all over the world to participate in Jacob's Pillow's Choreography Intensive on a full scholarship. In the summer of 2009, she will be moving to London to study choreography in a Master's Program and hopes to extend her choreographic voice throughout Europe. Most recently, Kate was selected as the recipient of an artist fellowship grant to create new work from the state of CT's culture and tourism sector. This year Kate is excited to continue developing her creative process, combining her love for travel, cultural studies, and choreography.
